Well, as the inspirator of that fic, I have to say you did a FABULOUS job!

I had tears in my eyes at least three times in the course of reading it. And I barely cry for fan fic, so kudos.

I am still freaking out over how Dean issues of abandonment started and how little even our adult Sam does not realise how traumatized kiddie Dean was by this whole experience.

It's a great way to put things in perspective as to how John function (even though I'd assume he's ask his son a version of the fact too), how Dean thinks and react and why the subsequent actions of Sam will tear him apart.

Wonderful story girl, really.

Yay! I'm relieved to hear that you liked it. So relieved. I was very worried. I tried to get some Dean/John bonding in there, but Dean just insisted that he would not talk about Mom. 'Don't talk about Mom' seems pretty deeply ingrained in adult Dean, and I think that started really early, I think he got it from John, but rather inadvertently, learning from John's example. And in the end, I have to write what the characters tell me

I accept the job(?) of cuddling and rocking wee Dean, and I'll be glad to do my part in getting Adult Dean to accept a cuddle from one of us.
I appreciate you killing the sitter bitch for me. I know Dean could have hurt himself with the hot bottle, etc. But nobody, and I mean NOBODY calls my Sammy a bad fussy baby!!!
Sad, messed up wee Dean = Sad, messed up Adult Dean. That does make sense.

OMG! How sad...Dean won't cry...He's is sooo afraid that his dad will leave him :( And he got no snuggles and hugs after his spanking...It's sooooo sad :(

It IS a really sad story, but I also feel it's very accurately Dean. Dean missed Mommy and hugs and snuggles, but he did get snuggles with Sammy. In a way he was comforting Sammy, but it was a way that he got to hug and hold someone without feeling like he was being weak or bad. At least that's what I intended, for it to really strengthen Sammy and Dean's bond. Of course it just makes it all the more sad that Sammy eventually abandoned Dean too for school. Dean's had a sad life, and sometimes that just has to come across in fic.
