KNOCKING AT YOUR DOOR.

She raised an eyebrow. "Damn." Said in mock dissapointment, though.

"So... wait. What's the difference between you and that again, then?"

"They're made, I was born." In goes another batch.

"A werewolf, in my world, has to almost kill someone, in order for the magic to overcome a human's immune system and make them a werewolf. Me? I just am. I was born this way. I don't have to shift when the full moon comes out, I don't have to shift period, if I don't want to."

Which would be the reason for the messy break up she'd had.

Watching with some fascination as the next batch goes on, and she's alternating between beer and cookies hungrily herself.

"So you're one of those... shapeshifter-on-purpose types."

A chuckle. "I'm called a 'walker'. A Native American with the power to turn into a single animal. I'm pretty sure I'm the only one left." She' stirred the chocolate brownie batter. "Weres, at least at home, have to shift once a month, and for them, it's painful."

"You're the ONLY one?"

Rochelle may have been weirded out by the fact that vampires and werewolves and walkers and whatever else you wanted to call them existed here, but she was (mostly) used to it by now. Besides, when could she talk when she came from a world full of zombies? But regardless of her initial skeptism long ago, there's sympathy to her tone.

Mercy poured the brownie batter into the pan and sighed. "Yeah. Vampires hate us. Meaning, they went out of their way to kill walkers. I still don't know why."

She suspected it had to do with her ability to see ghosts.

"You guys got vampires, too?" She took another drink before continuing on. Beer and fresh cookies in combination never tasted so good. "And I thought zombies were bad enough. You sound like you got it more messed up than I do."

... Here, anyway. She could argue a zombie apocalypse was worse, but that was a different matter.

Mercy chuckled, sliding the brownies into the oven. She came back to sit down. "Vampires, werewolves, Fae. All of them."

She shrugged. "Actually, my life's relatively quiet. I'm just a mechanic with a history degree."

"We just have zombies. Or dead zombies, hopefully, in my case."

Mercy shuddered. "Now that has to be a horrible smell. Being around vampires is bad enough. Smelling zombies all the time? No thank you." Mercy had a sensitive nose.

Rochelle gave a little bit of a psh between a drink. "You have NO idea. Try dead zombies, live zombies, zombie body fluids, and the fact that you haven't showered in a week. Multiplied by four."

Mercy shuddered again. "Do you have any idea how sensitive my nose is, even when I'm human? Ugh. That'd kill me and probably all the weres I know." She knew the pack wouldn't be able to handle it at all. "It's why I'm constantly cleaning things. I can smell when they haven't been cleaned in a while."

"Sweetie, I think we could barely handle it, and we're all... you know, human-humans." She groaned. "That is a smell I never wanna have to get used to again."

Mercy snickers again. "Don't knock being human. Sometimes, it's actually easier. Even in my world, being a human has its benefits."
