KNOCKING AT YOUR DOOR.

"Well, there is that." She admitted. "There's the lack of wolf politics you have to play. The Fae will pretty much leave you alone, and you probably won't get killed by a vampire. Never mind the lack of magic missteps and a sense of... security. The Fae are common knowledge, as are the werewolves. But you can still pretend the vampires, the demons, the bad magic users don't exist and go on with your life. Hopefully, in peace."

She got up to check the brownies. Now she needed chocolate.

"Oh." An awkward pause. "Right."

Rochelle looks down at her beer for a moment before take another cookie.

"If it helps... everything was usually trying to kill me, too."

Mercy gave a soft snort, closing the oven. The brownies weren't done yet. "Well, the werewolves weren't normally trying to kill me. I was dating their Alpha." Still was, hopefully, if she could get back home. "One of the vampires would try to help me out and the Mistress of the Seethe didn't dare allow the others to harm me, because of Adam." She shrugged. "The Fae were usually the ones I had to worry about."

"So you had connections, huh?"

vw_coyote August 24 2011, 20:24:50 UTC
Mercy shrugged. "Not so much connections as... allies. Everyone thinks the human world is full of politics. They don't have anything on the supernatural." She slid into her seat. "That offer to bite him still stands."

"Sounds like really helpful allies, if everybody would be trying to kill you otherwise." Shrugging herself, Rochelle tipped the neck of her beer in Mercy's direction to offer a little bit of cheers. She gave a little smirk. "You're tempting me, Mercy. You really are."

"Only the vampires want me dead. The packs, as long as I stay out of their way, are relatively willing to let me live my own life." Medea purred against her ankles, twining around them. "It helps that the Alpha likes my cat." He'd given her the cat, in fact.

Mercy grinned and it was nothing but teeth. "I'm just trying to help a friend to get over an idiot of a Neanderthal. Perfectly innocent."

Rochelle's eyes wandered down to watch the cat, and with a brief pause she pointed Medea out. "That cat?"

Oh, she liked that. "Oh, I like how you think, girl."

Mercy nudged Medea with a toe. The cat purred at her. "Werewolves are well over two hundred pounds. Even the females. Medea will sneak out of the house, and go curl up with them." she shook her head. "I don't understand it, but she's adopted Harry's dog too."

Mercy grinned and got up to get the brownies. "Ever hear the legends about the Coyote Trickster? just living up to my namesake..."

"No--" Rochelle leaned back in your seat. "But you're making me wanna hear about it now."

Mercy chuckled and then went on to tell a story of how the Coyote tricked the moon and the flowers. Hence why most flowers do not bloom at night. (Because the writer can't find anything remotely like what she wants.)

"Mostly, Coyote isn't malicious." A pause. "Gabriel reminds me of what I've always thought Coyote to be like. A lot of comeuppance."

Rochelle tilted her head back, quiet, listening.

A small smirk graced her lips. "If they're like Gabriel, I think I DEFINATELY get it."

Mercy slid the brownies onto the table. "It's what I've always understood from the stories." A wink. "History degree came in handy for some things."

She dropped into her chair. "But Coyote took care of his own, even if he'd never be pack. And, well, seeing as I'm the only representative here you have..." A smirk.

As she was staring up at the ceiling, that slow smile was spreading across Rochelle's face.

"You're making it hard to try and be nice and say now." With that she pulled her chair back down, and looked up. "Not that I wanna make nice with him."

Though there was a brief pause, after that. A quiet later, and she sighed and shook her head. "You know... I'm pissed. Belive me, I'm pissed. But him and I were so... I dunno, complicated that I wonder what I did."

Mercy sliced the brownies and put one on a plate in front of Rochelle. "Here, double fudge." It made everything better, after all.

"Maybe you didn't do anything, save give him cold feet." She shrugged. "Men," human men in her experience, "react oddly to the weirdest things."
