[The video feed turns on; Tyrell's sitting by the window, looking out into the Darkness. He's usually out at this time, but not tonight. Tonight, he's reflecting on the past few months in Siren's Port, and he has a question to ask.]Hey, guys, I haven't really used this thingy much since I got here, but, I wanted to ask you all a question -- just ( Read more... )

Talk about what, being a hero for everything and being a hero for the people in your life who are most important?

I think the first people you should worry about protecting are your friends. If you make a promise to keep them safe, before anything else...then they know they can count on you forever, no matter what happens. That's how you be a good friend. I think it's more important than trying to be a hero all sloppy, all over the place.

Sometimes you've gotta pick how much you can handle.

... But what if your friends are heroes too?

Then you let them go be heroes, while you cover their back.

But if you want to be a hero too? What then?

Then you do it together.

Do you think there's ever a time when it's best to let one person go it alone?

[Because that's what Matthew had tried ... in the end. And Tyrell had let him, because Matthew was the leader.]

You mean...because your friends aren't here?

Not exactly. Just maybe, in the end, when everyone's pitched in to get as far they got, only one person can actually finish everything off. Is everyone else a hero then? Or am I just rambling?

Well...what do you think?

What about this story:

There was a princess held prisoner in a castle. Two knights had made a promise to save her. One went and defeated the bad guy, finished him off, because he was stronger. The other one found the princess first, and protected her.

Which one was the hero?

Well, they worked together, and it was kind of necessary. In your example, I mean. But what if everyone else just stood by and watched as one person got to be the hero?

Then that's...I wouldn't think it's fair.

For the one person who has to go it alone, or for everyone else who’ve just been -- [ a slightly disgruntled noise ] -- just been rendered useless, I guess.

Well...is the last step of the long quest a one-man job?

... I guess so.

Did they at least say "I could've never done it without my friends?"

Well ... in the last case I'm thinking of, the guy wasn't really much of a talker.
