[ Already, Clover seems much more cheerful than the last time she posted; her hair's still a bright pink, probably recently touched up, and she's grinning at the NV. ]

So whoever does the horoscope's supposed to be pretty good at that, right? I'm not so sure I buy it. I mean, if I could read the future, I wouldn't wanna be stuck churning out ( Read more... )

That's a rather interesting experiment.

You think so? [ She's pretty pleased. ]

It's certainly different to most that I've come across.

What would you like?

Huh? [ Unfortunately, she doesn't seem to have understood Helen's question, since she's tipped her head to the side and screwed her eyes up. ]

What d'you mean?

For your experiment; is my location simply all that's required or is there something following that?

Oh!

That's pretty much all I need, yeah. And your name, since I figure it's more polite that way. My name's Clover!

It's lovely to meet you, my names Helen. I'm in my apartment.

[ A little embarrassed, since she's being so nice: ]

Sorry, but you're gonna have to be a little more specific than that. Do you mean the Tower Apartments, or somewhere else?

The tower apartments, yes.

Okay! [ That perks her up a little. It turns out this could be pretty useful: if she can reach Simon in the apartments, maybe she can reach Helen too, even if the address wasn't as specific. She's a little tired, by now, but she shakes it off; hey, if she wasn't up for this, she shouldn't have asked for volunteers! Get it together, Clover. ]

Now I need you to close your eyes and, uh, try not to think of anything for a couple of minutes, okay? I'm gonna turn off the NV and see if I can send you something.

All right. [ She had to admit that she was curious about this. Sending? Suggested something telepathic. It would be interesting to see what happened.

But. Clearing mind, she had to do that ]

[ And Helen's right on the mark about that, too. Clover doesn't offer any further explanation for the moment, though, and ends the NV feed.

Presumably, the experiment's started, but it takes a good few minutes before there's the hint of anything unusual going on. Helen might need to strain to hear it, but-- there. Soft and almost inaudible, Clover's voice speaks directly into her mind. ]

--ello? I hope yo-- still get this.

[ There's nothing after that but intermittent fuzz, not unlike the 'snow' one might see while switching between television screens. If there's meant to be an image coming over, it isn't getting through.

When the camera turns on again, Clover looks drained, but she's grinning weakly. ] I'm not... sure that went over like it was supposed to, sorry. I guess I was more tired than I thought.

I heard it. [ Since she'd known what it was to look - or rather listen - for Helen had been able to pick it up. Just but that was enough ]

Were you telepathic before you arrived here?

quadrifoliate September 12 2011, 16:06:36 UTC
Really? [ Though her face is shining with a thin sheen of sweat, Clover seems glad to hear the confirmation. ]

I was... sort of a little bit telepathic before I came here, I guess. I'm not really sure. It's not like I could use it like this before, so I can't really tell.

I had a feeling that a message was what you'd be trying to send; you're not the first telepath that I've known.

Either through being brought here or simply the situation of being here it seems your ability has grown. Is that the nature for this experiment?

It's not that uncommon a power, I guess. I knew a few other people that had it too. [ Seventeen other people, as a matter of fact, but that's a detail that need not be mentioned. ]

Yeah. I wanted to see how well it worked with people a lot farther away from me, and how well they could understand me. [ It's not the most important point of the experiment, but it's plausible enough. ]
