Father. Master. What the hell is going on?!

[Liquid sounds more irritable than normal.]

If one of you kills the other, I'm going to damn well eviscerate the one that's left!

...Jeeze, Liquid, if you were in the mood for self-deprecation I could have said something sooner.

It's a given fact. I tried. I failed. And I refuse to take advantage of the fact that he sleeps next door. I need to get stronger.

An assassin with honor? Didn't think any existed.

Seems a little depressing to have your entire life revolve around revenge. What do you plan on doing after you get it?

It's everything I've lived for during the largest part of my life. I don't know what I'll do after I get it. Or if it even matters, with him being so young. He hasn't done any of it yet.

There's your answer right there. Even if you do become stronger, you and him still won't be on equal ground so-to-speak if he hasn't even done anything in the here and now to warrant your wrath. All it'll do is rob the meaning out of the act itself.

What did he do to you anyway?

Yes... it is. But with Brother gone, I'm still determined to reach that level and defeat him with my own hands.

...It's none of your business.

It's still an unfair fight. He probably doesn't even want anything to do with it, I'd imagine.

Come on, you don't expect me to ask? At least I'm trying not to think of it as a "IF I CAN'T PUT HIM IN A DEATH GRIP, NO ONE CAN!" type of thing.

Whether he wants it or not, it doesn't matter. Even if he hasn't committed those acts yet, he will in the future.

[His voice audibly sharpens.]

I don't care what you think of it. That man is the The same man who spent the entire time I knew him deriding my every accomplishment, telling me I was inferior to my precious brother, that I'd never be even his equal! The same man that left me to rot for four years in that wretched cell, despite being more than capable of rescuing me when my own government wouldn't! I hate him with every fibre in my being.

[Except he doesn't. And he doesn't know why.]

Even if he's younger, that time will still come for him.

...Funny. [dryly] You've practically done figure eights around the most simplest, obvious answer to your problem and you're too engrossed in your own hatred to see it. If you're that dense, it's no wonder why you haven't been able to surpass him yet.

Explain yourself.

[There's poison in his voice, and how he wishes it was the real kind.]

You've just said it: he hasn't gotten a chance to commit those acts. He's not yet arrived at that point in time where he's become the supposedly horrible man you enjoy painting him out to be.

With that in mind, you're in the perfect position to make it so that none of that will ever happen. We don't know how drastically our futures will change when we get back home. Maybe now that he knows who you are, none of those things will ever happen to you and you'll live a better life because of it.

If Light is to be believed, when you leave this place, you remember nothing. Tsuna said he remembered nothing until he came back here also.

[He leaves that statement at that.]

Changing the past is something that only exists in science fiction novels; if you remove the reason for having changed the past, you will have no reason to have gone back and changed it to begin with. A time paradox, in short.

That's only two people. If there have been exceptions with everything else in the way the city effects people, it should be no different here. Of course it would help if we had a few more testimonies to go by...

And that would make the timeline you're from uninhabitable?

No, I mean that if I change his future by trying to help him avoid that path, then my reason for changing his future will disappear, resetting the timeline. Of course, that's simple probability. I've never been one to adhere to fate.

...tch. I'll try.

I'd agree with you if I even believed in a concept like fate. Of course, I didn't believe in sci-fi movie logic until I came here, so...

Really...? [woah, that was easy.]
