The Bible teaches that the time will come where this one-world economy will be so dominant that no man may buy or sell unless he has received a mark in his right hand or forehead. We were told that this cashless money card (when ATMS became popular it creeped me out) would be what every one used and that if you didn't go to church on Sunday you wouldn't qualify for one, so all the Seventh Day Church goers would be starving, exiled and wearing tattered clothes eating aluminum foil! (Mr Pitts did say exactly that about aluminum foil and freaked me out)

holy crap, literally! I thought the cashless economy was supposed to be a sign of armageddon coming and USING that system was being marked by the beast? So really they should be praying to not qualify for their "number".

I just think our whole world, science or religion, is based on misinterpretation of our experience or our decision to believe in someone elses misinterpretation. But I do think there is real phenomenon in the universe that we don't understand and can never explain. It's our brains trying to explain shit that's the problem.

FEH. leave it to those goddamned psycho fundamentalists to twist shit around. the book of revelation is actually about Nero and all the bad shit he did to the early christians, with all that persecution and throwing them to the lions and all. i didn't know that Hebrew letters have numeric value and the letters in Nero's name is actually what adds up to the number of the beast.

being as Nero was so great at thinking up all sorts of creative ways to dispatch christians, they had to resort to some fucked up metaphors to say how much Nero sucked (and the book of revelations was born...).

I believe that's historically true. but this radio show last night made very interesting points, made by an intelligent scholar of the Bible, albeit a christian one. But he was no psycho. regardless of the number 666, the mark of the beast on the "right hand or forehead" is equivalent to numeric ID microchip implants, barcode tattoos, or retinal scans (forehead), all current technology with the goal of implementing them for "secure" money transactions in a cashless economy. No one will be able to "buy or sell" without it. so it's not a 666 birthmark on your scalp, it's a "mark" given by governments that in the future may be required of everyone who wants to participate in any commerce.

I'd debate what the prophesy means, but I'm open to the idea that prophesy can exist and may be describing our current times. There is much current news about nuclear technology related to Iran, Pakistan, North Korea... A war that kills billions could easily occur with a nuclear exchange that is frankly eminent, fulfilling that part of the

This sounds kind of like Nostradamus' predictions. These prophecies are all kind of vague (like Nostradamus'). The mark of the beast could also be... oh, I don't know... your IP or email address? Isn't the net more global than anything the EU could possibly accomplish? I'm sure people started talking about the mark of the beast when the SSN was introduced too.

Well, I'm not trying to prove it all with my one example, I'm just saying my experience of what I heard on the radio was interesting and very convincing, as opposed to all the talk of prophecies we've all heard all our lives, which has never resonated with me.

The reason it couldn't be something like an IP address or email address is that the mark of the beast is related to commerce, to "buying and selling". I never knew this was part of the passage before. So it could even be a bank account, but that's not the point. The point is since the internet, cash is becoming less and less usefull and the cashless society and "Globalism" sounds very much like what that Revelation passage is talking about. it's not talking about communication, because if it were then yeah, anything like an IP address could be it.

It's also not about one thing like the "mark" it's about a convergence of lots of interesting parallels that I'm not prepared to list, but those websites or that radio show do talk about.

OK, so I was thinking about this the other day... well I was actually thinking about Time Travel. Maybe I'm mistaken, but it's pretty much widely believed that moving at high speeds has something to do with traveling through time. Move real fast and time slows down which effectively sends you forward in time.

So, I was thinking that someone who can foretell the future must be able to THINK at speeds faster than others. Thinking at the speed of light could maybe give you foresight... in a sci-fi kind of way... you know?

yeah... it's certainly out of my sphere of knowledge, but I'd lean more towards thinking via "wormhole", "warp drive" or in phase with a parallel universe or dimension--something like that. I do think foresight and time travel could be related.

ok...this post really jumped out at me...i've been going a little crazy lately and events are getting sort of strange. I have honestly, in the last few days, have had crazy feelings about the end of the world drawing nearer, and strange moment where i sense what i think is god. i may very well just be going crazy, i can't tell. but i seriously sense something coming, i think we just need to be calm and optimistic.

I think there's a pervasive depression about all the difficult things going on in the world right now; people react to it differently. I just try to pay attention as best I can to news sources I consider relyable but I try to stay emotionally detached from them. Your immediate responsibility it to your own survival and health, you can't do anything else if you don't have those. Just trying to say positive is sometimes the weight of the world, so just think that's all you have to do, whatever it takes to keep yourself happy and well, then when you are, you'll do good things for the world naturally.

once, in a parking lot at seal beach, this man was shouting from a megaphone that credit cards, id cards, and s.s. cards were heralding the end of days. he was rambling on and on about the scanners and bar codes at the super market and how the devil was behind it all. his van was painted all over with books, chapters and verses from the bible... most were from revelations. i remember thinking that my life, as i knew it, would probably only last another week or so. he had me convinced. i was probably 8 years old.

most religious fundamentalists or fanatics look towards the end of days with joy and anticipation, right? they WANT to be here for the rapture, don't they? so now, looking back, it strikes me as weird that this dude at the beach was trying to convince everyone to rebel and stop it. as though returning to a barter system would somehow please his god in a way that bar codes couldn't.
