I am very proud of you. I know that you have the knowledge and the skill to do what you want to do - your advisor in Boston was a wanker, and you as a student were forced to be dependent upon him to guide you through the process - so the fact that he blew you off and screwed you over (lovely terms, eh?) does NOT reflect on your ability, but upon his inability to act in the capacity of an advisor. So keep up the good work, don't beat yourself up as much, set your sights on what you want, and go get it.
