I had a blast at San Diego Comic Con. I was exhausted by the end of each day, and I was working, not going as an attendee, so I couldn't do all the things I would have liked to if I were going for pleasure, but I still got to do a whole lot of really cool stuff. De-odor Rant
Let me start by saying that I learned soon after moving to Japan that Japanese deodorant is absolute crap. It's either this spray on stuff that burns like hell for about 5 minutes until it evaporates completely, or some odd liquid that burns slightly less and disappears just as fast. Kobe Matsuri, round 2 (for me, anyway)
Last weekend, I took the night bus from Tachikawa to Osaka- roughly an 8 hour trip in which I slept about as well as you can sleep on a bus- in the beginning of my Osaka/Kobe Star Wars weekend. Since I've started working at Kotobukiya, I get to geek out a bit every day, but this was a chance to go full bore, costume and all.

Bad pun in the title. It's catch-up time.
After the whirlwind of packing, trying to sell stuff I couldn't bring with me (or stuff that I could move but would be cheaper, or at least not very much more expensive, to replace than to move- and some of it was getting older and in need of replacing soon anyway), I moved from Niseko to Tokyo on April 2nd ( Read more... ) -

I'm currently living in Niseko, Japan. While we were able to feel the big earthquake that hit on Monday here (I was the first in the office to notice it), the tremors weren't that strong this far away, though they did go on for a while longer than most of the quakes I've felt here. Frozen Kamemushi
Kamemushi, commonly referred to as the Japanese stink bug, are fairly prevalent in Hokkaido. They are the skunk of the insect world. If they feel threatened, they will let off a nasty stench.
