Its freaking freezing here! Snow is falling and the roads are slippery. It takes forever to get anywheres and the fuel economy is terrible. I'm sorry ozone layer but I had to get to an appointment ( Read more... )

I love shopping for other people. Maybe if I am never able to do the job I had again, I'll give the whole personal shopping thing a whirl.

I was trained by a professional shopper in my youth. My mother could keep track of prices in her head and always drove a hard bargain.

You're almost finished with Christmas shopping? That's a HUGE accomplishment! Good job. :) Gotta love having your stuff together during the holiday season.

I've actually already started shopping for next year. I just try to keep track of the various things that people have mentioned that they like and then, I buy them if I see them on sale. It makes Christmas more affordable.

I'm thinking about doing some Martha Stewart handmade gifts for next year - but I'm waiting for the magazine to go on sale \^o^/

When this kind of behaviour starts, you know you're getting old!

I think I've done what shopping I"m going to do too.... I got my daughter a few little things and I"m stopping there. We don't buy our extended family anything, but we make a donation to a charity in their name. We stopped buying for them when we realized they weren't impressed with our homemade stuff and never used/liked the stuff we bought for them.

Grats on being done early! Good job!

I can't believe that they don't like homemade! Every year one of my aunts does a whole bunch of baking and mails it to us, I've told her that its my favourite present.

My plan next year is to try and do as many homemade presents as possible. Right now, only my daughter makes homemade gifts and really, they are the ones that everyone keeps and remembers. Its important to keep the holiday in perspective and not submit to all this commercialism. I know people roll their eyes at that sometimes but really, do corporations really need more of our money?

I admire you for making the charity donation. That's what I've asked my family for Christmas.

You're in Edmonton right? What's the temperature up there? B/c I know it's damn cold here (Calgary), but I don't know what Edmonton's like.

Did you go to West Ed? I was in Edmonton a few weeks ago, and wandered around there - it was way too big & crowded for me :S LOL.

I just checked the thermometer in the backyard. Its -27.3 C! Yikes. I am not looking forward to going out today.

I did a little shopping at West Edmonton. Its easier if you just target a couple of stores and leave quickly - unfortunately, The Mall is unavoidable because they have many tenants that aren't in any other mall (Zara, Aritzia, Hollister, BCBG, Bebe, G Star Raw). Its not as crowded during the week.

Stay warm. Is your chinook there yet?

Chinook's on its way - well, a mini-chinook by the looks of things. Supposed to be -13oC tomorrow - I've never been this excited about a temperature of -13!! :P

its a good feeling isn't it? The only problem is that you have to do your own wrapping. I've decided to use gift bags and boxes as much as possible.

I'm showing your comment to my hubby. Maybe he'll do all the wrapping this year too!
