Whew! So, I got through the weekend swim meet. Three and a half days of driving back and forth to the pool, feeding the hungry beast that is the swimmer and getting her to meet homework goals. She finished her research essay but would not allow me to read a draft. Her English mark has been rising since the first disastrous assignment ( Read more... )

Its the fun of having a "rare" disease isn't it?

The Speedo ones are from about $460-550 US. The Blue Seventy are 320-360 US and the Arena are about 200 sterling pounds (I don't have that symbol on my keyboard and am too lazy to figure out how to do it otherwise). FINA is meeting with the swimsuit manufacturers in February to talk about the situation. And to think that it wasn't that long ago that everyone was wearing lycra!

*boggles* mad prices, I can't see how they can possibly cost that much. Have you considered trying to get a newspaper interested in it? I think many people would be horrified

there's been a lot of discussion on it....there are university swim programs who have outright said they don't have the money.

Its crazy. I hope something comes out of the February meeting. Swimming is already really expensive here due to the distances between major cities (and no truly cheap transportation plus accomodation deals) and the low number of registered swimmers.

The swimming situation sounds horrendously complicated. It's always the case, isn't it, that the same few people volunteer every time and end up being expected to do everything.

Hope you get the health situation sorted out!

I have to say, I love the way you handle doctors.

heh...well, you know how they can be...some of them can treat you like you are a drug seeking hypochondriac.

Luckily, my primary care doctor comes back from sabbatical/mat leave in the early new year. I can hardly wait to switch back.
