I think the problem comes in, though, when the twinks begin to whine about "how come Billy gets (x power) and I don't?". I mean, there's no tactful way to say "Because Billy does not have his head permanently lodged up his anus.", and some STs probably don't want to have to deal with the social hassle.I'm the type of ST who has (and will) often say "because I'm running the game, and this player earned it" It pisses some people off when I do that, but folks generally understand that I am the ST, and they are the players, and if they'd like to leave/switch roles, I'm 100% okay with that
( ... )
*hehe!* You sound like my Exalted ST! "I run epic games. I like epic games." (Very good ST, by the way, so I suppose the philosopy works?)
Re lickerishwhip on the SCA: That's why I'm cast at the local medieval faire. Lots of fun, lots of learning about the time period, lots of roleplaying... and none of the stupid snobbery. Of course, SCA-ers look down on us and go "Bah, rennies. Your costume has a few threads wrong on it! Dumb rennie" but hey, we're having fun and we're family and we separate IC from OOC. And every morning Guy of Gisbourne and the Sheriff of Nottingham (we're doing Robin Hood this year) apologize in advance for all the insults and abuse they're going to heap upon us, because they're playing evil, and we say "Hey, fine" and at the end of the day we forgive them because it makes for good entertainment during the faire day. IC =/= OOC. If it did, we'd all hate each other. */ramble*
whether the SCA is important to me (or anyone) or not, it does not... A.) put food on my plate B.) provide a roof over my head C.) Improve my health or D.) Give me gainful employment
It is a hobby... a social thing. Personally, I enjoy it and plan to become an active part of it agian. But it is not some life altering thing to me.
I like it... you don't... no big deal... life goes on.
And what do you mean "by your lonesome"... the Blue had several people with him for Roses and will continue to have them... I mean, we may be a poor substitute for the Kib... but we ain't chop liver.
Eh, he made a specific point of wanting me to be there. Which while I understand, I'm not really willing to deal with. I'm not saying anyone else is chopped liver, I'm just stating that this li'l black duck is not gonna deal with it. No offense intended. seriously.
