Well, I'm a big fan of 'man up and deal with it,' and I'd say I practice what I preach pretty well when it comes to that.
But I know of no boundary setting or strength of repair or determination to compartmentalize that will ensure absolutely everything running smoothly all the time and no one getting upset about anything ever.

that's reasonable, but by the same token smoothly for x person is no longer my issue. once it's done, it's done.

Good luck with that? Even you know that things aren't always so cut and dried.
What I meant was more in the line of...people being upset or even writing about being upset on LJ doesn't necessarily mean they're going to act stupid. God knows I don't do it, but it is quite common for people to say they're okay with 'X', actually *be* okay with 'X' in general, and also have feelings that contradict their general okayness that they then sometimes talk/write about.
Sucking up and dealing doesn't necessarily mean never expressing any unhappiness about something.
Humans are contradictory creatures. It's annoying, but it's the only game in town. A certain amount of angst and drama is just part of the cost of doing business. It doesn't mean that something is broken; it's just the sound of the gears in the machine.

but that's why I HATE doing business (and often choose not to be bothered)

With me they often are, and you know that. When something is dead, it's dead, and there shouldn't be any random attempts at resurrection. It's often a good thing to just let some stuff die and let it go than to keep picking at it, and or trying to make it work when it doesn't work.

Knowing when to throw in the towel, is both a gift and a curse.
