My mom is here, which is awesome. Yesterday we went to Target, and I got a new VCR, which means I can watch soaps again (yesssssssssss..........) and then today we went with the ladies to see the new Bridget Jones diary, which was of course quite fun, but rather disappointing, like most sequels. Alas, I will miss the show. I'm headed back east for my sister's second wedding, which my wife and daughter will not be attending, which will require me to spend five hours driving with my parents from D.C. to NYC and another five hours on the return, and which will likely make me miss the Big Game (not Michigan-Ohio State, but we take what we can get in the West). Have fun in my troubled absence!

It will be nice to see my parents and sister and whatever relatives show, naturally. But the New Jersey Turnpike is very lame. And I will know none of my corporate-mover sister's friends. She works for Pfizer now. Maybe I can score some free samples of Viagra. It beats getting them at Eric's Fine Foods.

I didn't know there was going to be such a friends lineup for Calexico! I'm veeeeeeeeeeeeery excited now. pissang and jenmelrog! THAT'S GOING TO ROCK! Nothing like good music AND good people. I'm just sad the people you mentioned in your journal aren't going to be there. Darn those family weddings! Dinner with your Mom? I think she's great! And she was even nice to me during an "exam-stress-out" moment. I'm there.
