Non-communicating directors

Any suggestions for dealing with directors who seem to be incapable of communicating information?

Three examples from my current show: ( Warning: whining inside )

Have you tried implementing e-mail as a communication tool? At least that way you have their original words in writing so you can be like, "NO YOU DIDN'T SAY THAT. SEE?!@#" while shoving a printed copy of the e-mail into their face.

Yep -- we have our usual e-mail list(s) up and running. As far as I can tell, the light designer (Ed - yay!) and I are the only ones using it.

well clearly the only thing to do is to take someone they care for captive and threaten great pain on that person if they don't listen to you and give you proper answers..since there are two of them perhaps you can take one of them captive.

in other news could you send me an email about the scp show please...mvtechqueen@gmail.com.

Kill them, take over, and do it yourself.

Or kill them and have someone you think is qualified take over.

Or just kill them and let the show not go on.

I've found that Chinese water torture is quite effective...

So...when's load in?

Well, for the first problem, you can have someone take *sigh* meeting minutes and distribute them after the fact. Be sure to ask for corrections, that way something is in writing and the onus is on them to submit changes if they don't feel that the content is correct.

For spur of the moment communication that happens outside of structured meetings... Probably a baseball bat if your only recourse. You'll (really) know better next time.
