Ah, but they aren't named after planets, but after Norse and Greek gods. Tuesday - Tyr's Day Wednesday - Wodin (Odin)'s day. Thursday - Thor's Day Friday - Freyr's day Saturday - Saturn's Day and then Sunday and Monday are the sun and the moon.
Interesting! So I suppose varying cultures adopted naming conventions differently. My Portuguese friend said that back home, their names are just numbers based.
