So for a while now I've been itching to dye my hair, or at least get reddish highlights. Too bad my evil evil hair refuses to take any sort of non-permanent dye and I ended up with dark dark brown hair and semi-red-mostly-brown strands

I don't think it looks bad. You could probably get something better from a professional, but you don't look like a freak or anything.
