I will comment later on the rest of the post...but for now...that touched something so deep within me, that made up my utter reluctance to go through with any "arranged marriage" thing for my daughter...thank goodness, she found someone who actually quit his job in the US to come and see, for six months, if he would like India. (he did.)
This is one of the reasons why, when we talk about our glorious Indian culture, sometimes I feel like bleughhhhhh.

to see his works) and it was intense and distubring as one man (of very rare honesty, I may add) introspects and ponders the meaning of the terms marriage and rape... that's why I came back to this post. I do agree with srblogs...in this play, too, the husband cannot bear the fact that three other men have raped his wife, and murders them.
Very talented playwright, Pawan Kumar; opens doors that many theatregoers don't want opened at all. He reminds me, in this respect, of Mahesh Dattani, who, over a decade ago, did the same thing...but who is now, alas, in Mumbai, trying to make it big in the movies....
The thread is drifting a little...but we are not yet on different pages....the page being, the model of "wife" that's in most Indian men's minds....
