Nice pix about your Half Dome hike. I'm sorry that you did not prepare well enough to complete it. You really need to leave by 5:30 am to get to the cables by 11 am. Bring plenty of water and a filter pump - I drink 7 quarts all day and there is enuff to be found. Use good hiking boots and hiking poles will help a lot. I've done it 20 times. Set a goal and do it next year. I suggest staying in the park...the drive from El Portal just makes you get up an hour earlier than you need to...plus that ride back to your room is hard after this hike. I commend your decision to turn around when you did....too many people start late...and are not in shape so they have to hike back in the dark - ugh.
