I would definitely tend to agree. And the absolute worst part is that it seems like no matter what you did up to that point, the sacrifice determines your ending. If you nuked Megaton, killed all the Ghouls near Tenpenny Tower, enslaved Flak, whatever, if you sacrifice yourself you're the hero. And if you have Sentinel Lyons do it, you're a villain no matter what. Take that, prior character development and playstyle.

Also, the final "boss" was a wuss no matter how you cut it. Even if you choose to fight him, by that point in the game you can slaughter him without ever leaving VATS.

(I actually just beat it the other day; I'm still playing to wrap up quests and locations I never got to.)

Yeah, it really just seemed to be cop-outy to me.

I'm going back to WoW-I haven't touched it since Thanksgiving, when I got FO3. I'll come back to it eventually and play through. I got the majority of the side-quests done, there were a ton of just random locations I never went to.

With Lincoln's Repeater, there wasn't a single enemy in the game I couldn't one-shot reliably by level 5. All leveling meant was I got the perks to do it from further and further away.

Dude, if you were able to get Lincoln's Repeater by level 5, then you're the most badass wastelander ever. I didn't even get to the Mall 'til level 9-ish.

Also, the Repeater is for squares. A3-21's plasma rifle is my weapon of choice.
