So much for my nifty cool shrimp tank. They're a lot less nifty when they're dead. I think the water got a bit cold for them last night, but, still, they're supposed to be very hardy-the species I got originated in Japan, and they're used to more temperature variation. Fuckit, inverts seem to be much more trouble than they're worth in fresh

Not for nothing, saving two billion people from starvation counts as one hell of an achievement in my book. The human race lost a humanitarian and scientific titan today.

Really, I consider myself damn lucky. I've got a wonderful wife, a decent job with good prospects for the future, and a generally very good life. Cat's hale and hearty, the fish are doing well, all that jazz.

All the same, I can't help but to think how many little niggling issues I could knock out of the park if I won the lottery.

So, having all these fish settling for a day or so, with stable chemistry, has me pleased. Unfortunately I lost one of the zebras, the biggest actually, this morning, but it wasn't chemical or biological-he looked injured, which means he hurt himself on the tank or got into a scuffle with the gouramis as he was the next largest fish.
