Yay, thanks so much! It's a book I wrote; I didn't want to provide the link here because I didn't want it to seem like I was posting this as an ad. The quote this week dovetailed so well with one of Jane's main traits ("I don't want your help, you're useless, leave me alone!") that I wanted to use it for this week's entry.
Haha, it is TOTALLY not wrong. It's classic teenager, I think -- offloading the blame onto the teacher. I mean, Jane's teacher does not like her, but with pretty good reason...
This got kind of long in the second half, but what I really liked about it (apart from the teenager language, which really felt like a teenager) was that the prompt was far more about the father than the daughter. It's not 'being in trouble' that the daughter fears, it's rocking the already unsteady boat that is her father's difficulty in coping. The comment about the Drew Barrymore movies was a wonderful hint that not all was well in that department, and the father's unraveling afterward very much proved that.
Oh, thank you so much, what a lovely comment! That's exactly what I was trying to do. And thank you, too, for noting that it got long in the second half; I'm always glad to know things like that so I can look out for them in the future.

Is it wrong that I tune out any teenager who says this? I'm sure there are times this is true, but I want to see proof first...
