So if you have not heard yet, my Dad had a heart attack. He's ok, really. he's actually comming home from the hospital tonight. It would have been much worse if Mom hadn't been on the spot calling 911. Doctors told her that 15 min more would have been fatal

So glad your Dad pulled through and is doing well, Greg. I hope his health will continue to improve from here, and that he'll have a great many happy and healthy years of life. Do the doctors he saw have any idea what caused the cardiac arrest, and is he going to receive any follow-up interventions?

I've cobbled this together from snippets dropped by preoccupied relatives to it's not likely to be 100% accurate.

There was a blood clot partially occluding one of Dad's corinary arteries. They used a cartiac catheter and gave him 2 stents. Per later testing, his blood flow to the heart is now very clear and there was minimal damage to the heart.

There is no cardiac rehab scheduled as of yet. The big short and intermediate push is to improve diet and accomplish weight loss.

Damn. *hug* Good job, Mom. I'm so happy he's alright. What does the Doc say the recovery will look like? Anything he can do to avoid anything like this in the future?
