My poor cat, he spent half his first birthday shut in a wardrobe. He must have put on his investigating feet when I was hanging up some shirts. Lucky for him that we found him and he got his extra-special birthday smelly fishy meat dinner ( Read more... )

If we used to leave the door open to the hot water cupboard we had a cat who would jump in side and often get shut in. When later discovered he'd normally be a bit thirsty...

I remember the time when I simply couldn't whistle ... so I practised and practised until I could - and in the end I could even whistle a tune, reasonably well - which I still do frequently (because I can't sing for shit...). I even got pretty good at whistling while breathing in (so no pausing!). I think everyone should learn to whistle - it's a wonderful skill.

It didn't take any practice for me to start whistling. I'd tried on and off for years (because, as you say, everybody should be able to) and it never worked - then one day I tried and could. It'll be great when I get better and manage more than three notes so I can whistle tunes; I can't sing either, and sometimes I get a song in my head and it would be so nice to be able to let it out... to entertain myself, not to inflict it on other people.

Oh I like inflicting my sining on other people. Ah ha ha!

There are lots of fun tunes to whistle like the standard Auld Lang Sein, teddy bear's picnic, Star Wars, Indiana Jones (I bet John Williams whistles). Speaking of which, I can sometimes whistle the Harry Potter theme music, but it's hard to avoid degrading into the teddy bear's picnic. Strange...
