the whole ucla deal didn't work out...which is sad, mostly because i have no idea how to tell my parents (my dad almost wanted this more than me. not to say that i didn't--i really really did--but this is what he says to me two weeks ago: "if you get into ucla, we're going to go out and celebrate and have a great big fancy dinner." and i say, " ( Read more... )

Just be honest with your 'rents. They love you and will understand. And if you're really set on LA, there's the community college path (saves your 'rents money!). But yeah, whatever happens, I'm sure you'll make the most of it. It's not like your entire life is determined by where you go to college. Anyway, take it eaz.

and my parents will eventually find out, so it's just me not being a coward about it that's the issue.

but sleepy i know what you mean.. im sorry i cant offer you a way out but i got these asian parents and when i get a rej letter theyre gonna bring back all the old history of where it went wrong as if I didnt know.. yes it is also humiliating.. but it will pass.. be cool and tell your parents this news in a matter that will shut them up.. u know - a really reallllly solemn face

Breaking the news can be seriously tough but Shannon, you're one amazing person and I'm sure your parents know that too. Honestly, you're such an all-around student it's so awesome. You'll definitely be having tons of other awesome schools accepting you; even though they were looking forward to UCLA,I know there are better schools (with a more understandable process of how they accept people) that would love to have you. :)

hey shannie how do you know for sure that the ucla thing didn't work out? they don't have a 'non-acceptance' list, do they? i think you should tell mom and dad they'll understand and im sure other colleges will accept you remeber we all love you i promise i won't say anything to mom or dad, but i think you should tell them i love you
