Small steps

I'm about to head out to nosh at Montreal's most famous "smoked meat" establishment - Schwartz's. The ambiguously named smoked meat, for the uninitiated, is a Montreal delicacy that's sorta-kinda (but not really) corned beef. I tried it at a lesser, tourist-y deli on Ste. Catherine the last time I was in town, and was profoundly underwhelmed. ( Read more... )

Your haiku had me in TEARS! The humor comes from its truth.

What an apt album cover choice. I truly feel like the rain dog stumbling back home. It's good to be back.

And bonjour to you!

Only eight weeks in a bilingual country and already I'm a polyglot. Impressive, oui?

You're back, eep! Now don't leave again :-)!

Sounds like an interesting time in Montreal. I've always wanted to go. My dad loves it up there. Speaking of TV on the Radio, I was offered free tickets to their show last month, but stupid me pulled a couple of muscles at the gym that week. Which meant standing for long periods of time to be unbearable. Ugh!

I'll try not to, I promise! It felt good to write again, so hopefully the therapeutic aspect will keep me coming back.

Ugh, I'm so sorry to hear that you missed the show. You're absolutely right, though - any ache or pain is compounded exponentially by standing around in a tightly packed venue. My knees were screaming at me the entire performance, which is yet another cross to bear for aging hipsters like myself.

I did a triple take when I saw your name on my friends page! Don't ever leave us like that again!

::Hugs you for a long time; gets disapproving look from Christine::

I look forward to more tales from that wacky country up north!

My neuroses always manage to block me just when it would be ideal to have a creative outlet/support group. Screw them, I say! Hopefully I can fight through the paralysis and ennui and write something entertaining.

Please don't find this creepy, but I was thinking about you and Janelle the other day when I was actually in the same state as the two of you. Granted, I was about 7 hours away in Lake Placid, but still, very cool.

I've missed your virtual hugs! Your virtual hair still smells terrific. Virtually.
