California. This is the first I've been back since I took off on a cross-country trip with a car full of animals and a suitcase full of summer clothes. Seeing as how it's WINTER now and the house is still for sale, it seemed advisable to check up on the old homestead and send my family a care package of warm clothes to protect them against the ( Read more... )

Gracias. It was love at first site when the family saw her at the adoption clinic back in the day when she was wee enough to be held in the crook of Christine's arm. Luckily her ever-increasing girth has not diminished her cuteness.

Your peaceable kingdom is coming along so adorably.

I'm sorry you had to travel so much. I hope your peripatetic days are ending soon. What music do you listen to on your road trips?

The animals have all made a successful transition to the new temporary living situation, so thank Jeebus for that! Watching Pogo and Maizie play is HIGHlarious. Parker, as grand dame of the family, is having none of that nonsense, naturally.

I've been going pretty retro-y on the music lately, listening to the Nuggets box set and a lot of older Tom Waits. (The latter in anticipation for Christmas when my dear wife opens the Orphans box set I bought her.)

I've also been spinning my choice for album of the year, but I don't want to spoil it just yet...

Oh lordy, the cuteness of the puppy (EEE PUPPY) and the children (EEE KIDS) together is overwhelming!

Puppies and kittens may just be proof that there's a benevolent deity out there, and He or She wants us to squeeeee a lot.

Whoa! Catherine really looks like Christine in that photo!

And Brady's hair is growing back! Yaaaaay!

And your puppy is beyond adorable. Is her one ear always down like that or is it a reaction to the noise a camera makes? My dog used to do that. We have a lot of photos with his head cocked to one side because he'd hear the focus changing and think "What was that!?"

Agreed. Her face is definitely changing lately, but it still reflects her mother's visage.

I'm so happy about Brady's hair growing back. He favors it short (mostly because he wants to look like his little jarhead friends) but I LOVE it California shaggy.

Maizie's one ear is usually swept back like that for some reason. It's strange, yet adorable. Our dog Boo Radley had one ear that was perpetually bent over, so I'm fond of that kind of asymmetry.

Gracias! I find myself being overwhelmed by the cute when I first get home from my trips. Soon however, Brady starts punching me in the gut and the glow begins to wear off.
