i JUST had this conversation with some friends. The fact that someone telling you that you look like you've lost weight is meant to be a compliment, but if you haven't, yeah, you wonder if you looked fat before.
and no, you do not imprint as obese. just fashionable and adorable.

This happens to me all the time! Today, in fact, it came from a genealogist that hangs around the microfilm readers downtown.

You imprint cute and petite. Maybe those "you've lost weight" comments say more about the person saying them.

Sometimes I say that when I'm not sure what else to say. Like if I open with a courtesy "you look great!" and the response I get is "really?" and I wasn't prepared to be specific. But I'm just awkward that way.
