apparently there was some big explosion at 15th and market (just a couple of blocks from my office) and now much of center city, about 36 square blocks, is closed off (13th-18th, walnut to vine). apparently things are on fire. the explosion reportedly is from some PECO stuff

Oh... my mom said apparently some people in a building overloaded an electrical line, and something the basement blew up, and it was strong enough to blow manhole covers off the street and stuff.

yeah, it was a mess. i haven't watched the news because i was at work late, but there's an article about it here that you can read. it seems to offer the most information. one of the manhole (hehehe) fires was at 13th and chestnut. my office is at 12th and chestnut. creepy. i'm glad that people weren't hurt. it was so weird to sit in the office and hear nothing but helicopters and sirens.

movin' on up, indeed. i spent almost the last 2 hours of my day (5-7, when everyone wants to be in the office) freaking out in the office of the director of programs. things just keep getting better. you can read all about it....
