Sometimes I really feel like I'm the only one who lets my dolls tell me who they are, rather than trying to find dolls to fit pre-conceived characters. I also often feel like I'm the only one who takes pictures of my dolls for the sake of taking pictures of them, w/o trying to concoct a "photo-story ( Read more... )

First off, beautiful girl. She makes me want to own a girl doll, instead of dressing my boys in girly clothes.

Second... my experience with pre-constructed characters and dolls: They don't work. At least, not for me. My first doll, I had the character all made up and then when he got here....the boy wasn't my character, plain and simple. He was Ash, a completely different character, and he didn't talk a whole lot at first but has spoken more and more as time has worn on.

Second doll, I was sort of hoping that he might work for the character I'd had for the first, but didn't have any real faith in that anymore. Unsurprisingly, he's not anything like the character yet again. But he's wonderful, and telling me his own story just as Ash did. And I'm taking tons and tons of pictures of both of them, photostory or no :D

So you're not the only one. Looks like we have similar thought patterns anyway *poinst to the name of her doll blog - Pocket Cosmos*

It was so funny, with one doll I've got I was trying to do the 'see who she is' thing, but then abruptly she became a character that I already had. 0_o I know that's sorta the oposit of what you're talking about. And I just bought a little toy doll to be a character that I already had...and she's filling the role so well and exuberantly that it's chilling.

Guess it depends on the doll and how the owner's imagination works.

...or I'm just weird....
