Sometimes I really feel like I'm the only one who lets my dolls tell me who they are, rather than trying to find dolls to fit pre-conceived characters. I also often feel like I'm the only one who takes pictures of my dolls for the sake of taking pictures of them, w/o trying to concoct a "photo-story ( Read more... )

Oh, I think you're very clever in that... originally, with my first few girls, I just let them become who they wanted to be, and pick their own names... and all was well. But then I started getting so many big-head girls, I felt like I needed to create structures for them: sisters, etc. Which mostly worked...

But I've found that when I try to force a girl into a name/personality, she usually revolts. mythosidhe always teases me for renaming my dolls too often... if I get a new girl, I'll sometimes go through several names before she agrees that it fits ( ... )

Honestly, I think one of my best friends (not Ms. Deth ;} ) summed up my naming philosophy quite nicely. She's 6 1/2 months pregnant, y'see, & the ultrasound says that she's having a boy... but every time someone asks her what she's going to name him, she responds "How the hell should I know? I haven't met him yet!" ;D

I dunno about anyone else, but I (obviously ;} ) appreciate random photos as well as photo stories. ^_^

Thank you! I was originally planning to have Dinah pose for bondage & soft-core porn, but the more I "talk" to her, the more I'm afraid that's not going to happen.

Fox would probably get jealous, anyway... "*I'm* your fetish model, goddammit!!!" ;D

Nice shots!

As far as photostories go...I do a little of both. Sometimes I'll concoct a photostory and others I'll just take pictures and when I get home, I'll put together a photostory.

When I see a doll and buy them...the doll at the time tells me their personality. I don't usually force one on them. Sort of weird, I suppose.

Thank you!

I like your photostories... and your just plain photos. ^_^ I'm actually not at all against photostories, I just sometimes feel somehow...inept for not creating detailed personalities & backstories for my dolls.

I guess I might *look* all rebellious & stuff, but deep down inside I've still got that twinge of "keeping up w/ the Joneses". ;}

Heh. Well, I have a close friend here and he and I are very competitive. So, I totally understand about the "keeping up with the Joneses."

I always try to improve my photos as I think my stuff is just mediocre. You know we are all our biggest critic.

I understand ~ I am totally the same with my dollies ~ or rather they are the same with me

even when it comes to names and such ... i.e. a blythe recently purchased ... I thought she would be Grace O'Malley or M'greet or Bif to which, once she arrived, she said NO to all three

Finally today she told me she was Esmeralda

Thank you! I'm pretty sure she'd be blushing, if she could.

I would say that Fox is jealous, but Fox seems to be pointedly ignoring Dinah & any attention she might be getting. ;D

My Blythe, Melora, was the same way. I had a whole list of name suggestions for her... I actively didn't want her to take the name Melora because one of my "eFriends" already had a Blythe named Melora... but after several days of negotiations, it was obvious that her name was, absolutely, Melora.

I swear, these dolls... you'd think that for as much as they cost & as much as we spend providing for them in the manner to which they've become accustomed, they'd be a little bit more agreeable when it came to naming... but NOooooOOOOOooooh! ;P

Esmeralda is a great name, though... I can hardly blame her! ^_^

Yes and yes.

Gorgeous photographs - just beautiful work! Dinah in Blue works particularly well, and Photo Four is quite evocative.

Thank you for taking pictures of your doll for the sake...

Thank you! The more I look at them, the more the blue one is my favourite pic of Dinah, so far.

As for taking pix of my dolls for their sakes... the only reason I took up photography (beyond basic snapshots of my friends/family) is that Foxglove showed up & demanded that her fabulousness be properly documented. Who was I to argue w/ such a gorgeous & strong-willed doll? ;}
