I was shaped and molded in my younger years. The damage endured as a child is that which will stay with you a lifetime through. The psychological effects of schoolground bullying can inflict more scars upon a soul than that of a violent battering, and such scars are those that I have carried since primary school ( Read more... )

The challenge in life is not to live it, it's to overcome it.

Smart, literate, strikingly stunning, smug, attitude and the bollocks to back it all up. I think I love you a little.

Nothing like getting pasted on the playground to then grow up famous, gorgeous, mad or all of the above.

I've the mind to think that we all take what comes to us, it's those with the attitude and the anger that manage to get on with it. Your words are very kind and for that I thank you.

I love that song, first off. You've done fairly well for yourself. I'm sure Danny boy tells his mates about the chasing thing to this day.

It's a brilliant song, my dear. Danny is actually best mates with one of my cousins, so I hear he still runs the streets telling everyone he was my first kiss. Stupid bloke, he was my second.

You survived a lot in your youth. For that and more you are quite a determined soul. And now you can look at those arses and have a laugh over it. I know how terrible it can be. So far my kids have been rather lucky. But you can bet they'll have an irish man in their corner.

Happy Birthday Shirley. You ever wish to talk to me, and I hope you do you can find me at barelybono.

I've lived a lot of life, but we all survive if we fight hard enough.

Thank you dear. Shall I break from my paralyzing fear of putting myself out there, I will certainly chat you up.

Aye well, I think I'm only where I am due to those in my life, this includes you darling. Had we grown up together, I probably would have left school with a few more whacks on my hands than I already did, but it would be well worth it.

Mmm thnak you, deary. I cannot wait till I see you again.

I remember one time reading an interview where you stated that being a little redhead girl at school is an easy target for bullies. Maybe that's what my mum was afraid of when she annihilated my true red roots and bleached them blonde.

Although I'm not too sure whether she succeeded or not in her quest....

The past lingers for a long time with someone even after you've managed to become the kind of person you've always wished you could be...you still manage to see yourself with the eyes of those who didn't like you.

Aye it is. I feel for the wee lassies who have to endure it and those without a voice to speak up. I never said a word til I left school early and refused to go back. Since then those scars have stayed and I've always hated my red. I'm happily enjoying the platinum now though.
