When I'm at work, I listen to the NY Oldies station, WCBS 101.1 FM.  I never noticed it before, but a lot of the ads are very targeted at the "stereotypical" New York.  Take, for example, this dialogue I just heard:

"You rolled over your 401K in the time it took me to eat a pastrami sandwich?"

According to a news report I read:

On Interstate 78, mile marker 69.7 is missing on the eastbound route near Bethlehem, PA.  I don't know where it is, but that's just awesome.

I find it an interesting trend that my relationships are getting exponentially shorter--a year and a half, one month, five days.  Pretty soon they're going to converge to zero (at least as time goes to infinity, they will).

On a related note, my father just encouraged me to "Play the field."

I've always been fascinated with the evolution of language.  Ever wonder where the phrase "getting down to brass tacks" originates?  I think I'm going to start talking in Cockney Rhyming Slang.

I'd be lying if I said I weren't jealous of the Purdue All-American Marching Band members going to the Motor City Bowl.  Despite the moaning and groaning, they are still going to get the chance to put on a great show in front of an appreciative audience!

So, I was playing with the Boiler Brass (the pep band for the Purdue Men's Basketball games) tonight and I looked at the Purdue bench, specifically noting that Coach Painter had a suit on.  While he was well dressed, I thought to myself, "Well, he's no Billy Taylor."  Billy Taylor was the Lehigh Men's basketball coach through my duration at Lehigh ( Read more... )
