"Oh! You were right, this WAS a good idea!" he said, looking around. There was some food scent in the air and he could see large bowls of peanuts being passed up and down the bar, along with jars of pickles and pickled eggs. Oh boy!
He'd never drunk anything in his life before either and had no real intentions of it. Apparently people drank to feel happy. Well, he was already happy, and even happier still because of the green haired beauty attatched to his arm.

He then reached for another and it suffered a similar fate. And then another, before he pushed the jar back toward Voile and took a long pull on his soda.
"AAH! Much better! Did you not want any more at all?"
Reply
There was a sip of her milkshake and she looked over her shoulder, as he still had an arm around her, and gave a glance around. "Hmmm... I'm sure some of your friends and family are here... I hope you take the opportunity to go say hello to them."
Reply
"I'm going to! Did you want to come as well? Or did you want to talk to some of your friends while we're here too?"
Reply
Voile looked back to him, "I always feel like if I see them talking to other people, they're probably busy, you know? Part of that shy outlook I have, I suppose."
Reply
He could understand - he could be a little shy himself at times. Especially with people he didn't know well.

"Oh, I know I can always talk with you, but I'd of course, prefer not to do so if I think you're preoccupied. It wouldn't be very polite of me," she protested softly as she reddened.
Reply
"It would be fine. I'd be happy to see you no matter what I was doing or who I was talking to. I couldn't be too busy to talk to you - at least to just say Hello and tell you what I was doing."
Reply
As she trailed off, she began to think over what she'd said. Was that really true? Surely to some degree what he was doing - if it impacted her - was something she had a right to know about. Unless it was a surprise or something, she supposed...
"I mean... Within reason..." Voile finally managed to push out. "I'm not sure what the line is there, or if we've even... met... it..."
And as though she knew how silly she sounded, she blinked and chose to replace her words with the straw of her milkshake.
Reply
"I don't think there is a line." he finally replied, letting the straw fall from his mouth. "I could be talking to the President, or even Red, and you could come say Hi. And I'd introduce you to them and feel really happy that you came over to say Hello. You're important to me."
Speaking of!
"Oh! I asked Red the other day? And he said he's excited to meet you some time soon! isn't that awesome!?"
Reply
She was important to him. She wondered to what extent and... found herself unable to ask him. As much as she wanted the answer, she was just a little too concerned about what he might say. He like-liked her. And she like-liked him, but where did that put them?
And what if his friends and family didn't approve? Sure, they'd been kind to her. Well. Mostly. But...
His trainer, she reminded herself when he mentioned Red.
"What... exactly have you told him about me?" she asked softly.

The entry Sonny had made to ask to borrow money off of Vinnie. Oops.
"--me talking about you with Vinnie. But once I told him about you, he was really happy! He smiled and said that he wanted to meet you. Then we hugged."
Essential information at the end there.

"Oh, you talk to Vinnie about me as well..." Voile tilted her head, trying to decide if she liked that or not. "Well, I'm glad to know he was happy as well. About... you."
Us?
Maybe she shouldn't say things like that. "I'm glad he takes very good care of you."

At least, to Sonny he seemed wise. How much that counts for is anyone's guess.
"Red takes great care of all of us. He always has. The thing that won me over? The thing that made me WANT to be on his team? Was his understanding. He took the time to get to know Me for Me before he started training me. It didn't take long for me to warm up to him, because he fed me and wasn't mean? But what got me to fight for him was the respect he showed me. Red is.... well. I dunno. I guess if Vinnie and Sasha and the rest of the team are my brothers and sisters? He's... pretty much like my Dad."
It was an odd thing to say about a mid-teens boy, of course. But to Sonny, it couldn't have been truer.

He was kinder than she was, she thought. For a moment, she was envious. But then it melted away and she simply settled her chin into the palm of her hand, tapping her glass with her free hand.
"I think all Pokémon with trainers would be happy if they had a trainer like that," she admitted.
Except she'd never had anyone like that. Her trainer had been good to her, to a degree. She had never been mistreated. She had never been abused. But all the same, emotional hurt was as bad as physical. A physical scar could heal over time, but emotional scars were... near eternity.
