kitty troubles

*sigh*

So I'm sure that many of you remember the whole fiasco with my cat Frisky being diabetic. What I neglected to mention is that as of July, she is no longer diabetic. Yay! Apparently, cats get this weird form of diabetes that can actually be made to go away, if it's caught early enough. Of course, she's still susceptible to a relapse, and ( Read more... )

bad stuff, cats

I hear you on the kitty woes :(

Our Rembrandt has a nasty sore on his neck that won't go away. Poor kitties.

Stupid cats. Why do they have to make us love them so much? ;_;

It's hard not to get worked up when you know the possibilities. But with a little luck Stormy can certainly pull through.

Yeah... I hope so. I don't like being in this weird position where I pretty much have to make one cat a little less healthy to help the other one out. It's like a really fuzzy and cute version of Sophie's Choice. Only, you know, without Nazi's and no one's actually dead so far. =^P

*hugs* CRF isn't fun, but it *is* managable. There isn't a way to tell if a cat has CRF unless bloodwork and a urinalysis is performed however (and it has to be in conjugation with each other). Did your vet mention anything about pancreatitis? k/d is more of a kidney disease diet while i/d is for gastrointestinal upset/pancreatitis. Just wondering.
If there's anything I can help with (explanations or suggestions) let me know.

He didn't mention pancreas, just kidneys and liver. I guess the i/d was just in case she ate a plant when I wasn't looking? Oh, he also mentioned cancer. =^/ The other doctor at the same hospital that we usually go to thought that Frisky might have cancer for a while, and she was talking about chemo and things like that... yeah. Somehow I don't really see that being budget-able. I'm sure I'll have questions soon, but for now I'm going to try not to dwell on it. =^/ Thank you so much!

I'm so sorry to hear about your kitties! I know how much you love them. As a general rule, I believe in doing as much as possible for my animals, as long as they will be happy, healthy and pain free on the upside. Good luck.
