The other day my daughter informed me that she had an abnormal results on her pap smear. So yesterday, she was scheduled to have some investigative procedure to look into it.  Initially, she was going to go alone, but the closer it came to the day and time of the appointment, the more I was aware of her nervousness and trepidation.  So, I took half ( Read more... )

It does sound as though she has some rough times ahead. It is indeed difficult to watch your child struggle, but I think you have it exactly right--be there when asked for and/or needed, and that's about all you can do. :(

I'm glad I at least listened to my intuition and went with her and was with her when this happened. I'm going to call her to see if she wants me to be with her when she lets her dad know. I know life is rough, but I wish bad things didn't pile up around here.

i can certainly feel for you! i have been through situations with my daughter that make me wish she was 6 years old again. then i would tell her what to do and that would be that.
it is so hard to watch them struggle...
i wish you both luck...

My daughter has always fought to do things her way and she's always had to run into that brick wall a few times for things to sink in, but damn..I still wish it were otherwise for her. You always want things to be better for them.
