Ennis can relate, in some ways, to what Nick is going through, even though he'd never seen the kind of action Nick and his buddies had. He knows the fear of remembering bad memories, parting from Jack all those times, and not knowing if they would see each other again.
I'm happy that he finally found Missy again. Part of his past has come back, a part he missed sorely.
Thank you for this wonderful update. I'm looking forward to your next chapter. : )

Hey Debra:
Thank you, I'm so happy to be back. It was a real struggle to come back to this place but I think I needed to heal a bit before I could continue. You know, Ennis finding Missy again is all part and parcel of him trying to present a complete person to Jack. Slowly Ennis is creating a community for himself and Jack, a place where they don't have to be hidden away as they were on Brokeback. As for the next chapter, I plan to update every two weeks, so lets keep our fingers crossed! Em

Thanks, I'm glad to be back! Feel like I've done my own tour, just trying to fight my way back to this place. Ennis calling his sister was a bit of a surprise to me because that wasn't in my original outline. But once I thought about it, it made perfect sense that as he tries to re-create himself, he would seek to re-connect with those that once shaped him. Your support means so much to me. Thanks, as always. xx Em

Yayay!!! So glad to have this story back. The stuff about VN is so sad, and i know it's so true. I can hardly bear to think about it - those guys were just kids, rushing off to hell. Our world is so f'd up in so many ways.
I'm ready for more E&J, but glad E is catching up with his sis in the meantime. Great story. Thanks for bringing it back. Hugs. LM

Hey S! Yes, I've often wondered why VN didn't figure more prominently in the OC. It certainly had a monumental impact on the world around E & J. I think it's a cool parallel that Ennis would feel a kind of brotherhood with those that are looked down on.
Thanks for your constant support. I wouldn't have made it this far without you. xx Em

I can't hardly find the words to comment on this wonderful chapter. It's just gorgeous. Your characterization of Ennis is so well done, I could see him in front of me from the moment he was swinging those keys round his finger to when he stretched himself out on that couch with his sister's voice in his ear and Jack's letter over his heart.

Thank you so very much for bringing us The Dance once again. BTW, thanks for explaining FNG, I would have never gotten that one.

Hope you're not scared any more.

Hug,
Teri

Howdy Teri:

Thank you for your kind words. At times I felt this chapter was being written in blood, it was so excruciating. And I was afraid people would be terribly disappointed that the phone call went to Missy instead of Jack. However, I'm merely a scribe and that's the direction the story took. Oh yes, I put the FNG explanation in there just for you.
Hugs and all that mushy stuff. Em

Hey sweetie, a wonderful chapter, emotionally charged, but I love the connection between Ennis and Nick, and the banter that goes on when Janie's around.

I'm so glad Ennis re-connected with Missy, I can imagine that being an emotional phone call, and I hope that Ennis is able to tell her about Jack, in time.

So glad you're back writing, Em! Missed you. x

Missed you, too. I'm glad I'm writing again, I feel like a weight's been lifted after passing this hurdle. Couldn't have made it without you, though, so thanks for sticking by me through it all. Much love, Em
