Falling Back

Genre & Rating: Canon drabble, dead!Jack.

Disclaimer: Jack and Ennis were created by the Great and Mighty Annie Proulx. I'm just the dude behind the yellow curtain working the lights and using the Big Voice microphone.

Summary: This is how Ennis copes with this time of year. I finally wrote a real drabble, only a hundred words. Sorry it's sad, had ( Read more... )

Guh! So sad., but so true. We can never go back and 'do it over'. Poor Ennis, only regrets left now.
Thanks. Carole

Hi Carole. I just woke up on the 3rd to an image of Ennis looking at the clock and hating it because we can lose an hour so easily with a push of a button or turning a knob. Thanks for your comment. xx

Oh, Em-tastic, this was fantastic! One hundred words of pure poetry, each conveying a feeling worth a thousand words at least. Gah! You've pierced my heart with this one.

Are you sad, pookie? Can I help?

The biggest hugs,
ef

Hey my Effy:

Yes, sad. Am having some motherly concerns over my meathead 15 yr. old son. Aggravated by worry over a 15 yr. old boy just north of me that went missing Thanksgiving Day because he had a fight with his parents because they took his X-box away. Two days after I posted this drabble, the boy's body was found in the woods. Our whole region is devastated, especially those of us who have boys his age. What a world we live in, Effy, sometimes being a mother is a dagger in the heart. Oh well. I'm a hopeful person, as you well know. We live in faith. It's good to know I have many friends to turn to. xx Em

Oh, my dear, darling, Em - I am so very sorry. What a terrible thing to have happened, no matter if the boy was 5, 15, or 50. I can't even begin to imagine the grief.

I said a prayer for you and that family today and am sending the biggest hugs imaginable. I only wish there was something more I could do...

Love,
effie

If only someone could invent a time machine. If not for real then in our hearts we can at least pretend for a little while, can't we? The loss and guilt Ennis feels for Jack will never go away but in his heart he holds the real Jack if he but open up and listen to the double heartbeat.
I hope you feel better real soon from what ever makes you think sad thoughts.
Big hugs
Torry

Thanks, dear one. I think you're so right, in our hearts we can pretend for a little while. That's part of what draws us here, isn't it. There are so many people I miss...Oh well, just have to cope with it. As for what made me sad, I left a pretty detailed reply to Fizzer just above this one. It will take time. Much love, you are so good to me. xx Em

Very well done. I don't read a lot of drabbles for some reason but I'm sure glad I read this one. Joe

Hey Joe: I kind of like the drabbles. I admire the skill that it takes to get something said in 100 words. Almost like poetry. Not to say this one required any skill. It was more like a fluke, really. lol. Fizzerbass' drabbles are much more artistic. xx Em

Thank you. Sometimes the sad needs to get out before the happy can come back in. I hope the next thing I write has lots of sex and laughter in it. Keep your fingers crossed for me, will you? xx Em
