I went out to IL to interview for 2 jobs while my students in HS were on Spring Break. Well, low and behold, so were the students in IL. Which meant that i got no interviews. Dude, when you're looking for a job, you're totally on THEIR schedule. You don't matter, you're just one in a pile of applicants they're considering, unless you can prove to them otherwise at an interview.

Welcome to the real world.

I have an interview this week too. I'm ditching school because of it. But it's a class I don't even like and have missed the least, so I'm not that concerned.

And now, I'm finally going home to sleeeeeeep.

If it was just about ditching school, I would do it in a heartbeat. But I have my responsibilities as a teacher now too. I student teach and I think it looks bad to just take off on my students and my supervising teachers just for this. It makes me look like I have no integrity.

Yeah, but my point was, you're on their time if you want a job from them. I'm not saying the tickets aren't a ridiculous price, or that you need to shrek responsibilities to your kids. Just that they're not going to take that into consideration unless you call them. Ask for a conference call or something. I've done that before (didn't get the job, but I did it).
