Part of my job involves making posters for four or five talks each year, as part of Kenyon's Burton Morgan Lectureship Series.
I'll grant that I'm not a very good poster designer. In fact, I'm kind of bad at it. At least I admit it. But still, it's something I'm supposed to do. So I muddle through.

Isn't amazing how companies that have spent billions to build a brand--designing the logo, contracting with public relations and marketing and design firms, buying advertising in newspapers and television stations and magazines across the country, building a website, hiring firms to design the inside and outside of stores--can just disappear, ( Read more... ) -

Kenyon holds an annual election for members of alumni council (making the group much more exclusive than the group at my alma mater, to which I belong after saying, "hey, can I join?"). Mail Order Annie Weather
For quite a while, I have used the term "mail order Annie weather" to describe cold, blustery, blizzard-like conditions, specifically wintry conditions found on the Great Plains.
I stole the term from "Mail Order Annie," a Harry Chapin song about a North Dakota farmer who is meeting his mail-order bride for the first time:
