i am really tired of this conversation

male customer: "Hey sweetie (or any of a couple dozen other diminutives)."
me: slightly annoyed face
m.c.: "You married? No? You should be. You got kids yet? You should have kids.
me: "I don't want to have children. Ever."
m.c.: "Every woman wants babies!!"

I am generally forced to endure this crap at least three times a day.

he really means "I want to get every woman I encounter pregnant."

While I am very strongly in favor of shooting these guys I have two obstacles that prevent this-
1) my boss would, without a doubt, think shooting people in the store is "bad for business" and get pissy with me
2) the counter. it serves as a protective shield blocking customer's groins from any bullets or sharp objects that may come from my side of the counter.

ah, very good (unfortunately) reasons to not actually do it.. damn.

hmm.. what are your reasons for not wanting kids, anyway? you could mention those to the next idiot (male or female) who insists that you should have kids anyway or that you're lying to yourself (etc) when you say you don't want any.

I'm pretty sure guys like that do, in fact, think that women need men to tell them what they want. I mean, it's not like we're equals or anything.
