Reasons why Snape is not dead:

I thought we'd start off this comm by listing the reasons why Snape is still alive. Put in your contributions. Let's make an extensive list which will silence any disbelievers ;) I'll start off:

1. Snape is an accomplished potions master. Accomplished potions masters don't die of snake bites.

Oh course, we have to add...

2) No portrait? Either he's not dead or Snape got the shaft again!

3. No mention of what happened to the body and no funeral.

This site is a good idea. We are going to write our own and better ending HP series. As soon as I get some sleep I'll post all I think of that hateful Rowling who was too coward to kill Harry or anyone of the trio and therefore need a bodyguard the rest of her life, but killed Snape and not even gave him a portrait in Hogwarts or make Harry apologize to him.

The most important thing is that the body is missing, I think.

Tha main problem , however, is that he did'nt die of poison. He died because he got two massive holes in his neck who bleeded profusely and he tried to keep close with his hand.

Pro:

- there is no talking about a burial.
- there is no new portrait
- Snape is an old hand at poisons
- and at stoppering death too

Contra:

- he looked quite dead for some time
- he was sacked as headmaster, so perhaps no portrait
- I wouldn't put past Harry and the DA to let him buried in a common grave or something

But I've no doubt that JKR left the possibility open for us to hope.

As someone somewhere else pointed out, Mr Weasley survived attack from Nagini - presumably he too bled profusely.

Yes, and his wounds bleed profusely because could not be closed by magic.

But if in this case the fangs pierced a carotid artery in the neck this would have shut down the apport of blood to the brain very quickly.

(Which gives us hope, because he did not 'die' all that quickly. Harry toke is sweet time to come to Snape, and he was still conscious enogh to emit the selected memories Harry needed to see.)
