This is a fascinating insight and I'm really glad you mentioned the drinking because it's the first time I've heard that he's drinking again. Or smoking. :/// I think that, just like Frank, Gerard is The Addict and everyone else's drug and alcohol problem pales in comparison to the grand dramatic epic Event that was Gerard hitting rock bottom and getting sober. That doesn't mean that they don't have issues that are just as serious--or more so.
I really seriously hope that the radio silence means that this is being handled seriously by the band, that this isn't just a "you embarrassed yourself on the web" handslap but that it's being seen as a cry for help (if in fact it is) and that he's--whatever, checked into a clinic, in rehab, getting outpatient therapy, back on meds, not drinking. Locked in Gerard's basement and being forced to listen to Tori Amos, I don't even care.
Yeah, another of my friends who has experience with bipolar has suggested that he may be in a manic phase as well. And it makes a lot of sense. I didn't realize he was drinking again in addition to the really questionable surprise engagement. So yeah, obviously we don't know. But if that's the case, I really hope he is or will soon be getting help.
