If you can hack into my stupid stupid brokedown hard disk (which I have yet to get back from those fools at First Data Corp., who can't find my computer bag and all the accessories in it, by the way) and extract my trapped files, I'll give it to you ( Read more... )

Not too familiar with laptop hard drives and if they connect to the mobo the same way standard hard drives do but I'm pretty sure they do so yeah

Laptop hard drives don't have the same physical connector as desktop ones, though adaptors do exist, I think.

If your laptop can boot from CD and has wifi or a network or firewire connector, though, what I'd do is get a linux live cd, say a knoppix, boot from that and copy the files to safety across the network.

if only i were in manila, i have this usb adapter where you can connect your drive to any usb port.

hey trish, as sps was saying, youcan use Knoppix to boot a linux interface from where you can harvest your files (the only way I could think of is by transferring them via a USB Flashdrive -> I'm not sure if knoppix can recognize USB flashdrives tho (my Mandrake Linux can)). I have a knoppix CD as well.

Coordinate with me if you like this plan of action =) (I'll be in my office most days this week :D)
