OK, I ONLY MADE UP THE SHIFT EXCUSE BECAUSE I DIDN'T WANT TO CONFUSE YOU. I DO NOT HAVE A SHIFT KEY OR A CAPS LOCK KEY. AS I SAID BEFORE, MY COMPUTER USES PUNCH CARDS.
DO YOU KNOW HOW MANY LETTERS ARE IN THE ALPHABET, TINA? A LOT. I NEED 5 BITS TO REPRESENT EACH CHARACTER (6 INCLUDING SPACES, CARRIAGE RETURNS, PUNCTUATION, AND SO ON). IF I WERE TO HAVE BOTH CAPITAL AND NON-CAPITAL LETTERS, THAT WOULD DOUBLE THE AMOUNT OF TOTAL CHARACTERS, NECESSITATING ANOTHER BINARY BIT.
YOU PROBABLY DON’T THINK THAT SOUNDS LIKE SUCH A BAD DEAL, BUT USING THAT SYSTEM, I WOULD HAVE ALREADY HAVE HAD TO PUNCH 111 MORE BITS, DECREASING EFFICIENCY BY ROUGHLY 20% (INCLUDING TROUBLESHOOTING THE CODE).
OBVIOUSLY I HAD TO CHOOSE BETWEEN CAPITALS OR LOWER CASE ALL OF THE TIME. PLEASE DO NOT EVEN ASK WHY I CHOSE CAPITALS.

P.s: Nice icons. The other ones gave me a headache.
