It was a first, not an Oscar. Pull yourself together. LOL.

BUT, I don't like you at the moment because I'm all teary and sad! I love Six of One. I love the argument. I feel that establishes their love for each other more than any other moment in the entire show because, let's face it, you wouldn't argue like that with just a work colleague.

I love your 'extended' version. I don't think I've ever read anyone ever offer the view that maybe Bill kept drinking that night. I've read fics where he's gone to Lee's and fics where he's gone to the head but he always comes out and either they make up or they go to bed. So, I love the idea that he kept drinking himself into oblivion.

Laura is making me laugh a little bit. She's not really doing a very good job at keeping Bill at a distance. That last line was fantastic. And I'm looking forward to the next chapter where he gate crashes her treatments with an apology. Alas, I probably won't be first tomorrow with what I have on.

I love the Six of One fight too. I have such a hard time watching but I can still remember my initial reactions to it so vividly. Mainly "she started it" and "wow, they're in a relationship." Because you're right. You do not have that fight with a coworker. Or even with a friend.

I love the idea that he kept drinking himself into oblivion.

Thanks so much! I feel like the idea of alcoholic Bill couldn't have come out of nowhere. It must have developed over time. And it seemed somewhat appropriate here as he's consumed by self-loathing and denial - and the person he would normally seek out for comfort is the one causing much of his pain. It's wonderfully troubling and complex.

And poor Laura. She just can't help herself. She's too close and there's too much history. It's too difficult to be rigid and on your guard at every moment. Especially when you're living with him.

I'm so very glad you're still enjoying the story. Even if I did make you emo. :)

I think this is brilliant, personally. The comforting part of me wishes that they had made up here, or that Laura had in fact given in to the one thing that she really needs more than wants. However, I think it works tremendously well that she doesn't.

I love the give and take between them. Laura's 'frak off, bill' had me smile, because you pretty much nailed Laura right on the head. She's not an easy person to deal with most times. I feel like I can feel her cancer here, and I don't know if that's a good thing or not. *grins*

I'm so glad it worked well for you. I've read a lot of stories where they made up right away. I've enjoyed them all, but I've always thought that they wouldn't. The wounds are still too raw and deep, so something must have happened when Bill came back out of the bathroom. And the boy does so love his passive-aggression...

Cancer is such a scary thing. It really invades even the deepest recesses of your mind. And, given Laura's history with the illness, I can't imagine that it would ever be far from her brain at this point. And you're right. She's not an easy person to deal with. I love how flawed she is.

Thank you so much for the amazing comment.

I'm a sucker for post six of one fics, but this one was really something special. She's certainly not letting him in, but neither is she really being too successful at pushing him away. Looking forward to tomorrow.

Thank you so very much. I'm so glad this worked for you. I really adore how these two can be so hurtful to each other, and yet also recognize it for what it is and let it go afterwards. That's love right there.

So very glad you're enjoying it.
