although any creation of self is influenced by outside factors, it's the combination of the various factors that makes for an individual.
if you combine things simply to be 'different' then, no, you're not an individual. if you adhere to things just because you think that other people who adhere to those things are cool, then, no, you're not an individual.
but if you find it within yourself to look beyond superficial matters and explore a vast variety of realms and eventually hone into the ones that really touch you, then you ARE an individual. There are so few people who have found it within themselves to surpass the typical and the expected.
But those who have stand out in history, stand out on the street, stand out among friends, and stand out in their community.
If someone chooses to imitate the individual, the individual remains as such and the impersonator achieves nothing.
true individuality exists. it may not be common, but it exists.
