Hm. I liked the Canadian team a lot better, they seemed to have a hell of a lot more passion and personality, not to mention that I liked their program a lot better. The US team...I don't know. It was kind of bloodless, it was almost as though I could imagine them counting off the steps in their heads rather than bringing across a smooth and convincing performance. But what do I know. :)
You see what I see and what the commentator saw - The American team skated well, but they don't have the chemistry to pull off a sensual sultry tango. Even though the Canadian team is not a couple (they date other skaters), the have great chemistry for any type of music and presentation. With the Canadians, I felt I was truly watching a ballroom dance being performed by professionals. If they had been able to compete all season and show that program off and get more mileage on it, then there would be no doubt they would repeat at goal medalist. I bet, however, they were pleased to be able to come to this competition and perform so well through the two programs!
Patrick is such a fine skater and he has worked so hard! And I commend him for not rushing the quad to performance level. He was later coming to the table with the quad, but now has one of the best quads on the planet!
I tried to record the entire exhibition gala this morning, but I had it on the wrong channel! Thank goodness there's an encore presentation this evening.
Wow! Patrick's short program was EXCEPTIONAL! I hadn't seen it before. No wonder he won with record-breaking scores!
The American team, Davis and White, gave a very polished, sophisticated performance. Well done! BUT...OMW, Tessa and Scott were FABULOUS! Their performance had real fire and passion. Amazing that it was only the first time they skated that program. And you can't fault anyone who uses music by Diana Krall! :)
It's so wonderful to see Patrick set new records in the skating. This is a slap in the face to the few men skaters who say skating is all about the jumps and never bothered to up their presentation marks!
I'm so glad to see the German team do so well. Saying that, I still need to rewind and watch their long program! BTW, I think Robin Szolkowy is very handsome. :)
I think it's quite amazing the level of talent this first year after an Olympic competition.
Both dance teams are amazing! Their coaches have done fantastic jobs helping to mold these first class teams! I also give Tessa and Scott the edge because of their chemistry, which goes a long way on the ice.

Didn't see the men, unfortunately. Also loved the German winning team in the pair competition.

I love both couples -- so hard to decide. I think Tessa and Scott have the edge, so to speak.
