I had a nail in my tire over the summer and took it to a shop and they patched it right up for free! It has worked great ever since. :-) Just go bat your eyes at a nice mechanic and i'm sure he will get you all fixed up.

Just a warning so you don't end up stranded and royally screwed like me this summer.: AAA is not worth the membership. They don't tell you upfront that they'll only assist the person whose name is on the card with only the vehicle listed for them. Someone else drives your car or vice versa, won't help you; if it's your parents card and car they all but hang up on you. They do offer the option of adding a person to an account for a fee...not mentioning it won't activate for 24 hours. There are 5 drivers in my family who share 3 cars in 2 states - a year's worth of AAA is more expensive than calling a tow ( ... )

Actually, we have had good experience with AAA. They will tow you to somewhere safe, no matter how far, when you call. Yes, you have to be a covered DRIVER, but they will also tow you if you are in a rental car that breaks down or driving someone else's car. They don't even take down the information about your automobile, because it is the driver who is covered (hence separate cards for each person who is covered). We have a membership for my mom and a membership for me. That's because we're the only two who would ever be out of town driving... or else mom would be with dad when he drives out of town. We broke down once on the twin span coming home from New Orleans and they towed us all the way to Baton Rouge. That alone was worth the price of membership, and it only took about 20 minutes for the truck to get there. You also get discounts for hotels, travel expenses, restaurants, etc. We've saved a TON with that as well... even with some local restaurants. It usually works out to $20-30 a night discount for hotels, and about 10-15% ( ... )

Actually, I have to agree with Kate. They've come out to assist me when I've been in other cars before. Actually, before the tire incident, it was always for someone else's car. My parents have a membership for the whole family and I think it's definitely worth it that they can know there's someone here (or anywhere) to help me since they can't from up in CT. The guy was really nice too...hopefully your next experience isn't a bad one, I know how frustrating it can be to feel hopeless in those situations :(
