The past tense of twittered is twattered.   I'm bored to death of everyone and their momma talking about twitter.   OOH!  Barbara Walters has a twitter account.  Ninny Elisabeth can't stop blathering about it, making every verb/noun/adjective into a tw-erb/tw-oun/tw-adjective.  You know what?  Twuck You Elisabeth ( Read more... )

LOL! I literally laughed out loud.

Twitter is retarded. I am sick of it, too! The concept itself is obnoxious, not to mention all the hype.

So, so tired of Twitter. If you have something worth publishing to the world, save it, decide if it's really worth it, and put it in organized sentences and paragraphs a little later.

I know one person who does delicious, artful little twitters. I know many more who do not yet twitter anyway.

"If you have something worth publishing to the world, save it, decide if it's really worth it, and put it in organized sentences and paragraphs a little later."

Why waste time with poetry when you can write a novel?

Not a perfect comparison, but the problem isn't the medium so much as the fact that it can be poorly used.

No, not a perfect analogy. If people considered their twitters like they'd consider short poems, i.e. capturing an interesting idea or image vividly in a spare form, I wouldn't feel so...beleaguered by fragments of daily inanity.

I do like cleanskies's twitters, for one. Public examples:

11:45 Black toy rat in a red duffel coat in a first floor window, looking away, like set dressing for a japanese horror movie. Crows flirt, fight.

08:19 No snow day for us; the sky is high, pale, cold, brittle and absolutely clear, sunrise lighting contrail scratches pink, gold, then white.

16:35 Just read "locations" as "lolcations". Now imagining a small kitten on a map saying "oh hai i is here". Must find out if it exists already!

11:18 Few things are more cheering than a Highland Terrier doing his morning walkies in a tartan dog coat, bright against fresh snow.

I've found twitter to be invaluable for my profession. I'm able to communicate directly with scores of DBAs, and, unlike instant messaging, I can throw a question out to everyone and usually expect to get a response. And, it's great for networking too.

For me it fills a nice gap between forums and blogging.

But, in order to manage twitter effectively, a program like TweetDeck is a must.
